Book Review: Shadow of the Knife by Richard Ayre

Jack the Ripper meets the madness of Crimson Peak.

This novel is written like a classic tale, the characters are alive, and their backgrounds make justifications for their actions. This book is one of my best reads of 2021. Indeed, the historical fact clarifications were interesting as the story.

The writing style and prose are strong yet delicate and sleek like precious silk. I am eager to read whatever is written by Mr Ayre. Hopefully, he will consider bringing back the main characters for more adventures.

My fan cast goes to:
1. Orlando Bloom as Inspector Handy.
2. Charlie Hunnam as Dr Jarman.
3. Mia Wasikowska as Susannah.
4. Tom Hiddleston and Jessica Chastain as The Villiers.

Finally, Phrases to associate with this novel: early feminism and Sadomasochism
